The Screaming Retriever Brewing Company was established to provide a higher connection between nature, humans, our favourite pooches, and to enjoying a great beer after a great adventure.
Our CEO and Brew Master Ryan Kemp owns two Nova Scotia Duck Tollers named Titus and Kuma. This type of dog is bred to toll waterfowl into favourable positions for hunters, after which they become relentless retrievers! They are known to scream with excitement, especially around water. Ryan’s eldest Toller, Titus, has an exceptionally high-pitched scream when playing in the water – especially when “fetching” around the splash created by a stone.
This means a great day for us looks like taking our Toller Retrievers to the rivers and mountains in and around our beautiful province of Alberta. We want our beer to be a catalyst for you to get outside, with dogs, friends, family, or just you and nature.

Over the last several years, Ryan has become passionate about Craft Beer. This has led to him researching the various beer styles around the world and investigating how Alberta ingredients can make the best beers. After an 8 year sales career, Ryan has decided to make a passion a livelihood.
Ryan is the proud pet parent to Titus and Kuma, the Nova Scotia Duck Toller Dogs – the brand inspiration for his Screaming Retriever Brewing Company. He loves spending time with them in the mountains, rivers and lakes. Ryan’s best moments are having a delicious beer after a great day shared with friends, family and his dogs.
Jim has 40 years of business development sales and marketing expertise. He is now applying his well honed business skills as Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Screaming Retriever Brewing Company.
As an avid outdoor sportsman and former Team Canada rugby player, he knows all about enjoying a great beer after spending the day in the mountains or doing strenuous activities.
Lara is a Canadian currently living in the US with Kyle and their dog Nova. With the business of football she has enjoyed the ability to network and meet new people. She is passionate about fitness and brand marketing, and is excited to bring the Screaming Retriever brand south of the border.
Kiersten start with Screaming Retriever as a summer intern and is here to stay. Bringing 3 years of craft beer experience to the table you will find her developing tasting note profiles and taking photos with our CMO Kuma. She come from a farming family so she has seen the brewing process from farm to pint glass.
Kyle is an NFL veteran with a career spanning over 10 years. He has always been passionate about long snapping and his love of IPAs. He is a dual citizen with ties to both the NFL and CFL. He plans to expand his football career and also the Screaming Retriever brand south of the border.
Titus has been in the Fetch and Swim game for over a decade. He has retired to dog heaven after 13 years of dutiful dog service. He will be screaming and fetching rocks in the water from now on.
Kuma is an eager Chief Modeling Officer and Senior Sales Associate working under Titus’ tutelage, learning the tricks of the trade. He also looks forward to greeting you at the local pet friendly businesses where Screaming Retriever is served!
Although Nova is a Bernadoodle, her input to the marketing team is invaluable. Her love of pool swimming makes us wonder if she is a closet retriever.
